Re: Welcome Brother Chris!

I find that somehow comforting, to know this is something that affects people from all walks of life. Not that I’d wish it on anyone. But I mean - even Thor?? :)

Re: Aluminum as a causal factor of Alzheimer's - Introduction of myself to the community

I’m fairly convinced to - at a minimum - start drinking Fiji water! But what I’m wondering is - if there are some pretty clear, researchable links between Aluminum and AD, why doesn’t it come up more in books, articles, papers etc? And if anything, when it does come up it’s usually to say there’s be...

Re: Torn between Keto and the MIND/Mediterranean diets

I have been struggling with the big question, “So what CAN I eat?” I’m especially wrestling with whether or not saturated fat should be included in my diet. Without saturated fat, keto is extremely difficult or at least extremely boring. @n52 mentioned “ Precision Nutrition for Alzheimer’s Preventi...

Re: Torn between Keto and the MIND/Mediterranean diets

Thanks NF52! I should clarify that I'm a man (or maybe you got that and I misunderstood some parts of your reply). It's funny you should link that article about precision nutrition - I just bookmarked it last night with intention of reading it sometime soon :) I will definitely check it out. Exerci...

Re: Ketosis for APOE ε4s

I spent 4-5 months on a Keto diet - at the time it was to lose weight, get pre-diabetes in check, and theoretically to be part of an anti-Alzheimer's regime :) I did lose quite a lot of weight, and felt better in general. Since then, I've fallen off the wagon...I still eat low-carb, but don't count ...

Is there a way to "make oneself available" for research studies etc?

As a 4/4 with a mom in mid-late stage Alzheimer's, I can't help thinking I would be a useful participant in research studies :D But - I don't really know how to get involved in any or for those researchers to "find" me to include.

Re: apoe4 children have lower IQ`s ?

My 3 kids definitely each have at least 1 copy (since I have 2)...but all three are top of their class, play piano, and my daughter is active in 3 kinds of dance classes. All are very creative as well. I think nurture/environment plays a much bigger role.

Re: Torn between Keto and the MIND/Mediterranean diets

Thanks! Yep I fast around ~ 13-14 hours overnight (I skip breakfast and eat lunch around 11:30 - 12). At some point I might push it to 16.

Re: Torn between Keto and the MIND/Mediterranean diets

Thanks, Dan - yeah I've been trying to use Cronometer and found it a bit unwieldy (which is probably a user problem not an app problem. Prior to that Carb Manager was great and then they screwed it up with a redesign. Good point about over-eating for sure. I
