Re: Bryan Johnson & His Longevity Protocol
He has some good advice. I started eating lentils because of him, so I owe him that. Frankly, his approach is expensive and very supplement heavy, and he doesn't always detail what specific supplements and foods helped to address what specific biomarkers, which makes the advice less useable than tha...

Re: MIND Diet fails to show any benefit in randomized clinical trial
The other thing I would say about this study is that it didn't exactly show a failure of the diet: From baseline to year 3, improvements in global cognition scores were observed in both groups, with increases of 0.205 standardized units in the MIND-diet group and 0.170 standardized units in the cont...

Re: Surgery, Anesthesia, & Aluminum
I am having total knee replacement surgery June 2023 and was stunned to find out that many of the best knee implants/prostheses contain titanium with aluminum and vanadium alloys. I have not been able to find out if this could be a problem in the future if aluminum ions leech into my body and brain...

Re: British Medical Journal - New Study Lifestyle and Memory Decline
One thing I note is that APOE4 carriers with a healthy lifestyle declined more slowly than APOE4 non-carriers with an unhealthy lifestyle. So that's encouraging.

Re: Blue Zones, specifically Seventh Day Adventists
If you really want to know what foods are taking you in the right or wrong direction, the suggestion I would give to anyone, APOE4 or otherwise, is to do what Michael Lustgarten does: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KI1nGnG1r8c In brief: Get a full blood test, enter the data in Aging.AI, make the di...

Re: The association of APOE genotype with COVID-19 disease severity
7 years is definitely clinically significant in any context... if it's not statistically significant then the sample size was too small.I'm pretty sure that is a statistically significant age difference (mean age of 39 in the mild group vs. mean age of 46 in the severe group.)

Re: Still so worried about sleep
I'm not in a position to say whether you'll be able to avoid Alzheimer's or not, but this really helped me: https://www.sleepio.com/
If it's not covered by your insurance, there may be some similar sleep training you can find.

Plasmalogen levels modified by COVID
Plasmalogen Loss in Sepsis and SARS-CoV-2 Infection
Given the relationship of plasmalogen levels to Alzheimer's, this may be of interest. One limitation here is that they were looking at septic patients, who are very ill.
