Re: Our first guest: Dr. Thomas Dayspring...
Does the hypothesis that LDL/ApoB causes dementia rely upon the hypothesis that LDL/ApoB causes arteriosclerosis? Essentially, if LDL harms blood vessels, poor circulation will impair the brain? I wonder if anyone is aware of a compelling study that demonstrates dementia causation directly.

Re: High ldl-p and apob
Thanks for directing me to this, Quantifier. I was not aware of it. I just spent an hour looking at the twitter thread and the Google Drive folder containing the analysis. Perhaps I'm missing it, but I don't see an upper limit to exclude people with familial hypercholesterolemia. In general, that's ...

Re: High ldl-p and apob
As a purely statistical analysis, Mendelian randomization is blind to functional factors. In a world beset by metabolic dysfunction and the resulting chronic disease, MR plausibly shows LDL as a causative factor within Group 1 ... But in this case, I think we are lumping a disease state together wit...

Before tinkering with your body's cholesterol homeostasis, I think you should consider the possibility that nothing at all is amiss. Do you believe Peter Attia and Thomas Dayspring, or do you believe Vladimir Subbotin and your daily experience of health and wellbeing? More here . The hypothesis that...

Re: Do vaccines prevent AD and Parkinsons?
Thanks for sharing your experience, Quantifier. The CDC's guidelines promise a challenge for US residents who want BCG: BCG is not generally recommended for use in the United States because of the low risk of infection with Mycobacterium tuberculosis, the variable effectiveness of the vaccine agains...

Re: Do vaccines prevent AD and Parkinsons?
I completed my shingles vaccination and began annual flu shots in 2021 as a result of this evidence. I had forgotten about the BCG evidence, which seems like the most compelling of all. Has anyone sought the BCG vaccine as a prophylactic measure against neuro degenerative disease? Was it difficult t...

Re: Fructose leads to Alzheimer’s? (new hypothesis and wiki)
Thanks for the eye-opening new wiki article, Theresa. Years ago when I was interested in ketogenesis, I learned the hard way (muscle cramps!) about the importance of getting enough salt. I have been salting my food liberally ever since. The salt pathway described in your article is an important caut...

Wow, that's an incredibly well written and researched ultra deep dive into the topic, Susan. Kudos!SusanJ wrote: ↑Wed Feb 22, 2023 8:44 pm I'm guessing oxalates are a problem for more people than we realize. I wrote this wiki on oxalates a couple years ago, and am currently bringing it up-to-date with new research.

What Causes Alzheimer's? (Quanta Magazine)
Much of this article details the checkered history of the amyloid hypothesis and is not news to many of us here. If you find yourself skimming, I recommend searching within the article for "lysosome". Overall, the article is typical of those found in Quanta - high-quality deep science cont...
