Re: Artificial Sweetener Drinks

I don't have strong personal feelings on artificial sweeteners, there is just strong science. If people want to choose to harm themselves in the face of that science, that's their business. They can't say they weren't warned though. The reason some may get emotional, rationalize their choices is mo...

Re: Artificial Sweetener Drinks

I do use artificial sweetener in my tea and coffee so have always been interested in this debate. This particular study doesn't concern me though as it is not a randomised trial but a self selected cohort of people choosing sweetener rather than sugar - these are more likely to be people with weigh...

Re: Access to tests?

Hi everyone. I’ve been following the threads about testing. Thank you all. But I’ve had trouble finding or accessing most sites for testing, especially blood testing for tau markers. The sites are so complicated, with dead ends or never ending loops….and in the end I’ve had to conclude the tests ac...

Dear Lois/Chicago girl, Thank you SO much for all the time you have invested with your generous, thoughtful, insightful commentary about what you’ve been experiencing and what you have learned. I have been in tears over the anxiety connected to my disclosure visit, (pet scan results etc.) which wil...

HI! I am new to this group! I have always been a terrible sleeper! My neurologist suggested belsomra - WOW! I get 1.5 hour of deep and 2 hr REM most nights! (unless I have a glass of wine or a late dark chocolate). what is the verdict from y'all? Welcome, Kikiwebb! On behalf of the whole community,...

Re: Apoe4 /4 a new genetic variant of Alzheimer’s ??

Somewhat tangentially, I saw this study focused on healthy APOE ε4 carrier biomarkers: APOE ε4 carrier status modifies plasma p-tau181 concentrations in cognitively healthy super-seniors https://alz-journals.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/alz.13804 Jennifer G. Re: CNN article about a guy who is tracking and lowering ptau -- anyone want to try?

Yes, the Good Open Access makes the article accessible to everyone without a subscription. This fee is high compared to other journals. Nature affiliated journals can get away with that. Can’t say the publishing model makes sense - researchers beg journals to accept their work for free, do much if ...

Re: CNN article about a guy who is tracking and lowering ptau -- anyone want to try?

Thanks NF52! A few replies: 1. My main point is not that these particular strategies are comprehensive or do or don't work, but that p-tau appears to be a well-validated metric for tracking the disease and that it seems that high risk individuals like you and me could be tracking it and seeing if v...

Re: Prothena ASCENT trial/ PRX012

Has anyone participated this trial? My mom is currently in it. Welcome to the forum! We haven't had anyone posting about being in the Ascent Trial or knowing someone who is, so thank you for being the first. Your mom is one of a fairly small cohort (<100 people) in a Phase 1 trial of PRX012, an inj...

Re: CNN article about a guy who is tracking and lowering ptau -- anyone want to try?

Here's a really interesting article about a guy / clinic that is tracking blood markers for alzheimers and trying to lower risk scores. https://www.cnn.com/2024/05/18/health/alzheimers-blood-brain-improvement-wellness/index.html Hi nunchers, Thanks for starting this topic and posting the link to th...
