Re: Has anyone else gotten the new Abeta 42/40 test?
Thank you for the detailed and interesting response, @NF52! I have an update. I started screening for the AHEAD trial, and failed out at the very first step. They said my Preclivity test (which tests for beta-amyloid in the blood and tau) showed little to no amyloid in my blood. This is in direct c...

Re: Neuropsych Testing, Results and Bredesen Protocol
Hello. I hope that I'm posting this in the right place. I'm not very experienced with the site yet and have had some difficulty navigating it at times, probably due to my cognitive issues. My question regards neuro-psych testing. I'm wondering whether anyone who has had this battery of tests (3-5 h...

Re: Homotaurine (tramiprosate) appears to be a structure corrector
Are there current studies going on looking at Homotaurine? The studies I have found are old and have no results posted. Hi Tabby, As described in Alzforum, homotaurine has undergone some changes that explain why it's not currently in clinical trials: This is a prodrug of homotaurine, a modified ami...

Re: Anyone on a clinical trial forAducanumab (Aduhelm)?
My neurologist referred me for a clinical trial for Aduhelm. It is very intensive, and I must visit the institution conducting the trial every 4 weeks for 2 years. Part of the study provides access to PET scans and numerous cognitive tests. I was excited about accessing a PET scan because there is ...

Re: Longitudinal study: Vitamin D supplementation associated with 40% lower dementia incidence
Do be careful with higher than recommended vitamin D serum levels. At some point (which may vary individually) they may cause heart palpitations (this happened to a friend of mine). I appreciate that advice. So far that hasn't happened to me, but it's probably a good idea to periodically check the ...

Re: Donanemab and Lecanemab
This was just published today. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/37676096/ Lecanemab (Leqembi) is not the right drug for patients with Alzheimer's disease "In this 18-month trial, lecanemab did not slow cognitive decline in women . This is especially significant because women have a twofold incr...

A study of real-world patients and care partners with and without Leqembi
While most people with MCI and mild dementia report that "memory" is their biggest concern, it's when memory affects daily living skills and problem-solving that people lose independence in daily activities and care partners and adult children experience high levels of emotional, physical ...
