Re: WARNING re. Aricept (Donepezil)
SusanJ, Would Betaine Hcl for stomach acid be a significant contributor as betaine that might convert to TMA? It's okay if it is minor. Also, after my high TMAO result I read more and found that you should wait 24 hours after consumption of fish, shellfish and fish oil. I had eaten scallops the nig...

Re: Blood tests
Thank you for this information. What about choline? Isn’t that also important? You've done your research to know about choline. It isn't in the list of tests recommended by Dr. Stavia, but you may be interested in this topic: Choline Supplement to Offset Affects of ApoE4 Very little research has be...

Re: Blood tests
I was taking a look at the Primer, specifically at the list of the blood tests that E4 carriers should get. Can you order all of those tests through your primary care doctor? Would it cost a lot? How often should I get blood tests? Those are all valid questions, and the answers are mostly yes. [For...

Re: 4/4 mother turning 87 today
My mother who is an APOE4 homozygote is turning 87 today! Yes, she does have Alzheimers but really it started in her 70's after stage 1 breast cancer , two surgeries and radiation. I live in her house with her. She knows who I am , helps me find and spell words and is still happy and sarcastic. The...

Re: New Anti-Tau trial with blood-based screening
Thanks for such a thoughtful and thorough reply! I actually only had a blood test result (presumably for pTau217?), and the number in your post was an order of magnitude higher than what I understand to be typical results expressed as pg/mL for the blood test. I see now you were referring to a diff...

Re: New Anti-Tau trial with blood-based screening
Hi, I just joined this board today, and I also just learned today that I didn’t qualify for this study due to tau levels below the study threshold (best news I’ve had in some time!). I was wondering whether someone could provide some more explanation of the following observation up thread: “ As I u...

Re: New Anti-Tau trial with blood-based screening
I asked what my ptau 217 level was and they said they did not get numbers. Just three categories -below threshold - in threshold - above threshold . I would like to know my p tau 217 level and how that correlates with my risk Melissa 4/4 Thanks Melissa and Nancy, very helpful! Yes, I wonder what th...

Re: do ozempic and GLP-1s reduce APOE4 brain fog?
Does anyone know the dose they used in alzheimer's studies using ozempic? I am borderline diabetic and did a trial with ozempic but vomited nonstop. I have played with smaller doses to prevent the nausea but I'm not sure if it would be enough to help with alzheimers... Here's an excerpt from AAIC20...

Re: AHEAD 3-45 STUDY CLINICAL TRIAL (LECANEMAB - BAN 2401)
I mentioned in July I "flunked out" of the AHEAD study, with blood biomarkers positive for amyloid but not enough to be visible on petscan. I just had my first of the annual APEX visits. Just a blood test and a (short) cognitive test. I'm happy to be back at the study site and still invol...

Re: New Anti-Tau trial with blood-based screening
Would love to know what threshold of pTau-217 they are using for the study? I couldn't find that in the study information? Here's what Janssen says about the threshold of tau, which is based on a PET scan for those whose blood test is "positive": Elevated brain tau pathology defined as Br...
