Re: Caring for a caregiver
I think apathy is part of the disease and I experience it with my mother. Not wanting to take the test can be a self preservation thing too, it's humiliating to do poorly. Some of the things we've had better luck with include doing new and novel things like going to a museum which is stimulating, I ...

Re: 45 yo 4/4 and decided to stop trolling!
Hello! I found out I was 4/4 a few years ago but didn’t think much of it was I was pretty healthy. Fast forward to last year when my mom was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s at 71, with cognitive decline the last 10. My grandmother, her mom, lived to 97 so I was shocked. I read Bredesen’s book for her bu...

Re: New, almost 50, with 1 copy Apoe4 and a family history.
Hi there! Based on my family history, I am assuming I have maybe 12 years before it hits me. I also assume I have at least a 50 percent chance of getting it. That seems to be the odds on my mother's side. I am trying to do the lifestyle things. I have exercised regularly for years, I am at a health...

I recommend a vitamin D with K2 supplement. K2 helps calcium get into your bones and teeth.
Flossing daily is helpful too.

Re: Caring for a caregiver
Hello Folks! I'm Dan and I'm here on behalf of my partner of 23 years, Beth. Beth worked for decades as a therapist in assisted living and memory care facilities, and worked with hundreds of people with AD. She witnessed the inevitable progression as people descended further into dementia until the...

Re: Menopause Hot Flashes May Indicate Higher Risk of Alzheimer’s Disease
Personally, I think it's when hot flashes interrupt sleep it is an issue, ergo lack of good quality sleep not the hot flashes themselves.

Re: Newbie
Hi I’m new to the forum. I’m a 60 year old female and my 23andme health profile shows I have 1 of the apoe4 alleles. I’m not sure what the other one is. My mum was diagnosed with AD aged 65 and died at 72. I work and have caring responsibilities (elderly father lives with us and adult son with ment...

You may want to try adding flax meal to your diet. It is low in carbs and high in fiber. I use it for the beneficial phytoestrogens it provides.
