Re: What is the best Brain Scan for early signs of dementia

Envrad - I am able to schedule an MRI of the head only but not sure if it's the right type to see dementia which I think is an MRI with volumetrics?  https://www.envrad.com/services/mri-scans/ Have no input on your question, however, my understanding is that MRI gadolinium contrast media is not ide...

Re: Low fasting insulin predictor of Alzheimer's disease

I was kinda baffled that my fasting insulin was only 2, while my A1C was 5.5 (my doctor said her test runs high so she feels it's more of a 5.0) but either way it doesn't tie out for me., especially because I don't follow a keto or really low carb diet. I searched this forum and didn't see anything...

Re: Olive oil driving cholesterol up

I'm new to the boards but know a decent amount about APOE4, etc. I read Dale's book. I follow a healthy lifestyle, etc. I am APOE 3/4 and my dad is starting to show signs of dementia. His sister (my aunt) has dementia/AD and my grandmother (their mom) had it for 8 years in her 80's. I recently star...

Re: New study on lipids, statins and low carb diets

This is a review of existing research. Note, they say that no one has done a longitudinal study on the increase in lipids on a low carb diets (LCD) and its relationship to heart disease. With that said, they point out what we do know. Their conclusion is that statins are not needed for high lipids ...

Re: Brain Oxygenation-High/Low O2 Exercise

How are members liking Live O2? I’m working with someone who has been using it successfully but is now concerned with the new “Brain O2” protocol. Thoughts? Thank you for giving me new DIY ideas to try for the Brain O2 protocol on my fan bike (90's Schwinn Airdyne) The {Brain O2} cycle has three st...

Re: Polyphenols, heat, and shipped olive oil

FWIW, I generally don't order oil in the summer. I also ask that it be shipped on a Monday to avoid sitting around over a weekend. I do order from Amphora and live around 1200 miles away.

Re: Past vs going forward (alcohol in particular)

I quit drinking some time ago because of the impact even minor amounts of alcohol has on my sleep quality. Huberman's podcasts are always science based. This is one on alcohol for all, not just E4's. There are links to studies in the notes. This reinforced my decision to quit.

Re: Still trying to make sense if it is worth APOE4 to get a vaccine for Shingles and VZV?

There has been consistent data coming out that suggest multiple vaccines, including those for shingles, flu, and BCG (tuberculosis) all may protect against dementia. This may help make up your mind: Herpes Zoster Vaccination Reduces Risk of Dementia. Conclusion: Our finding that HZ vaccination redu...

I'm guessing the 600 mg is likely dried garlic as a supplement, so fresh is going to be heavier, therefore getting plenty is a good thing.

Re: Prodrome blood test results, initial and over time

I've been eating one clove of raw garlic, chopped up and sitting for 10 minutes to develop the Allicin, each day. Hard for me to know how much 600 mg of garlic is since I do not have a scale. Here is a horseback estimation. "The surface area and bulk density values ranged from 186.27-253.6 mm2...
