Re: Mild global cortical atrophy, F(47) 3/4

Thanks! It's been a bit of a worry. I've been advised to exercise and stay social etc, so going to go swimming later.

Re: Mild global cortical atrophy, F(47) 3/4

I asked for my scan results, but haven't spoken to the doctors yet, It looks Ok though I think.

"There is occasional mildly prominent sulcus but taking this into account there is no convincing patent of hypometabolism to suggest evidence of a neurodegenerative disorder from this test".

Re: Mild global cortical atrophy, F(47) 3/4

Thanks for the reply Lindsay, I've had the scan and just waiting for the results now. they are going to discuss it in a meeting before letting me know. We went away for a few days holiday which was nice.

Thanks! Yes, I'm on HRT already. they asked about that when referring me to the memory clinic (if it had changed anything). It hasn't unfortunately.

Re: Mild global cortical atrophy, F(47) 3/4

I got the referral through for the PET scan and it does not specify what type, also it says the atrophy is 'out of proportion to her age' so that answers my question.

Re: Mild global cortical atrophy, F(47) 3/4

Just to update this, I have had the memory clinic appt and they did not find significant memory loss but due to the mild atrophy have recommended a PET scan. They seem unsure if it is normal to have mild atrophy at my age- anyone know? I'm not sure yet what kind of scan, a glucose or amyloid one but...
