Re: Best brain scan to detect pre-symptomatic Alzheimer's

I'm curious what the best brain scan is to see how you are doing (Alzheimer's wise, of course). Not something used in research studies, but something you might be able to get a doctor in the US to prescribe. I don't have any symptoms, but I'm a 3/4 and am middle-aged, and I often wonder if I alread...

Re: She seemed cured, then she wasn't

Once her memory returned, I was careful to try to keep everything the same as to what produced the breakthrough. My reasoning is that a moderately high ketone score doesn't allow for a very high insulin score. But, then on various occasions before, I have been known to be wrong. This is so heart br...

Re: Zero carb diet will help prevent Alzheimer’s

Where the huge leap I see comes from those who insist early man ate mostly-to-entirely meat therefore it is an ancestral way of eating and good for ApoE4s since everyone was a 4/4 for 96% of human history, that’s the chasm I see. Yuval Noah Harari PhD, has constructed a timeline of great complexity...

Re: Introduction, after lurking for a long time, and insulin mystery

I tested again, 2 hours after a high carb meal.. Blood glucose: 135, Insulin: 59.5. Definitely not good; at least now I know. I've been doing alternate day fasting for the past month. I've lost 5 pounds, so I'll stick with that. I'll also lower my carbs some more and restest in a few months...

Re: Zero carb diet will help prevent Alzheimer’s

1. APOEε4s are ancestral genes, we should eat in a way that makes our genes comfortable. Our ancestors were the original humans who had evolved from the apes living in trees and eating a mostly vegan – tree leaves diet with occasional grubs and insects added in for animal protein. We were hunter-ga...

Re: Introduction, after lurking for a long time, and insulin mystery

[Thank you for the information! I thought fasting insulin would be the more important marker. Rebecca, if you had insulin resistance, then your fasting insulin would likely be high... Your BG was quite low and you would not want to have insulin in your blood trying to lower your BG even further. Yo...

Re: How to test and solve oral bacteria issues

I finally found a functional dentist and I have a lot of work to do in my mouth. I have mercury, so I will remove it at the end of the month. I also have NICOs, that have to be treated. My pockets are going away too 😥. Maria, my dentist was able to measure the leakage from my old fillings, and I ha...

Maria,

Sorry it took so long. I just went to get a cleaning. The two that they tested for were Porphyromonas Gingivalis and Treponema Denticola.

Re: another newbie

My name is Cindy, age 63, APOE3/4. Alzheimers runs in the family in a big way. My maternal grandmother as well as her sister had it, my Mom was diagnosed with early onset in her late 50's, 2 of her siblings had late onset Alzheimers. My oldest brother was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimers about...

Re: How to test and solve oral bacteria issues

I would like to test my oral bacteria to see if I have "bad" bacteria that could cause brain problems. I also would like to know what can be done to change the mouth flora and improve it. I have read a lot of information about gut health, but don't find useful information about oral healt...
