Re: The New Age of Alzheimer's Special Report - Scientific American + Davos Alzheimer's Collaborative

This is June, 4/4, a new member as of 6/10/24. Hi June, and welcome from another 4/4. I think this series of articles would be good for new folks to read. It discusses the advances in finding that miracle cure and the likelihood of AD becoming a treatable disease in the not too distant future. Shou...

Re: Statins when you’re homozygous APOE4

I'm not that concerned about rising cholesterol levels, and I've already reasonably reduced it in my diet. Yet having a higher ApoB and direct evidence of calcium in my cardiac arteries is a much more compelling reason to consider statins. I've tried a number of Statins and they all caused muscle b...

AnnieV - Do you consider 66 to be too late to make changes? With the exception of eating saturated fat (and margarine for my first 30 years before most people knew better) I lifestyle has been good for E4 but cholesterol and CAC scan nonetheless bad for my age putting me in the 75th percentile. Ann...

Re: Protein

I am very frustrated with diet. All meat is excluded except seafood? Eggs as well. Many folks here follow different diets. I'm 4/4 and believe that means I should stick to an ancestral hunter / gatherer diet of man prior to farming and constant carbs. I eat meat and hate most seafoods. Eggs, chicke...

Re: New member

My sleep is a continuing problem (I can’t turn my brain off)!! Welcome from another 4/4! When you say you can't turn your brain off, it sounds a bit like me. Most folks would say this is crazy, but I find a TV show that I enjoy, and turn it on very quietly. I listen for a bit and then fall asleep r...

Thanks Nancy. Sounds like they are attacking it from both sides, and both could be helpful. But only one will be available soon...

Re: Increased HbA1C

3 months ago my HbA1C was 37 New Zealand (5.2), by homocysteine highish at 10, my zinc low. I've started on methylated B vitamins and have a test away for SNPs which will be very interesting. I'm APOE 3/4. I've been doing 12-16 hrs fasting, low carb diet, eat very clean, minimal processed foods, ha...
