Re: Evidence mounts for alternate origins of Alzheimer’s disease plaques
My first attempts at ketogenic led to my GP asking me at my next appt "How is the reflux?". I answered I had not experienced any recently. Which surprised me as I expected the keotgenic/atkins diet to make GERD worse. It actually eliminated it. I no longer follow ketogenic diet due to insa...

Re: saturated fat and mild keto--need ideas!
Hi Anne. On the subject of autoimmune problems and diet there was a book (out of print now I think) called Diet and Arthritis written by a Rheumatologist in the UK. Her name is Gail Darlington. She began treating her patients with an elimination diet after one of her young RA patients was seemingly ...

Hi. Well, psyllium husk (metamucil?) will add fiber and reduce cholesterol a little. I know there are some authors who believe that leaky gut can be a cause of increased LDL cholesterol, so you might look into that as well. I'm sure others on here could add to this list. Good luck.

Re: Questions on diet
I came across this thread while searching for info on flavonoids and polyphenols. I was intrigued by Julie's comment about cloves in her coffee. I don't know if I'll try that or not (although I might, I do drink a lot of coffee). Anyway, I noticed that one of my favorite teas, Constant Comment, appa...

Re: Breakthrough on Deep Sleep Issue
I have recently learned (through a functional med doctor) about a flavonoid combination of Diosmin (never heard of it before) and hesperidin that is used in Europe and I think the US to treat varicose veins and also hemorrhoids by supposedly improving health of the veins. It's also used to treat ven...

Re: I Can Hardly” Believe It Viagra Reduces Alz Risk
I found the article about increasing frequency of viagra use being associated with greater benefit. It was yet another retrospective study on heart disease, not Alzheimer's. Also, the articles I've read on possible benefit for Alzheimer's indicated it they were looking for drugs that analysis indica...

Re: I Can Hardly” Believe It Viagra Reduces Alz Risk
Regarding the question about why 50 mg/day in the trial: I've been reading about these drugs (PDE5 inhibitors) for a couple of weeks now (ever since reading Malcolm Kendrick's book). I've seen positive reports of benefits both for Alzheimer's and for heart disease. In one of these (don't recall whic...

Re: Viagra for Alzheimer's?
Poking around I see the University of Manchester researchers are also investigating viagra's effect on atrial fibrillation (experimenting with cells from sheep hearts I think they wrote). Anyway, it's all very interesting and a reminder that it was originally being investigated as a treatment for he...

Re: Viagra for Alzheimer's?
In the article that I read, they seemed to be focused not on the increase in blood flow, but on the effect on Tau or on the interaction between Tau and Amyloid. Also, it is not simply a matter of increased blood flow, but I believe that the increase in NO aids in protection of the endothelium. While...
