Re: Need input into my lipids please

HI, I was told I'm a hyperabsorber and was told to try Plant Sterols/Stanols. But if I hyperabsorb doesn't that mean I have high levels of sterols? I'm confused. Do those work? Wouldn't Zetia be better? I've read stuff about Plant Sterols actually causing harm. Help!

Re: Is Red Wine OK?

I'm always so torn about this. Should we drink? Probably not. Do I drink. Sure I do. I drink wine with my dinner. Maybe I shouldn't be doing that. But my Hba1c is 4.6, my fasting insulin is 3.8 and my fasting glucose is 85. My CR-P is .2 and Homocysteine is 5.6 Is the issue all about sugar? Is my e...

we'll have access to all other member's anonymized data so that we can explore which strategies appear to be having the most advantageous effects.

What determines an advantageous effect?

Re: If you should choose to drink alcohol -- which is best?

I'm a little confused on the statement about sugar content. From what I've gathered wine has about 1-1.5 grams of sugar per 5 oz glass. Spirits have essentially zero grams. Beer is pretty low too with less than half a gram. Carbs is interesting with spirits again having zero grams, wine having abou...

Re: fish oil and ApoE 4's

I'm wondering if Fish Oil has raised my LDL. Since August my LDL and Total Cholesterol has gone up 40 points. I'm taking 2,000 mg of Krill and 1300 mg of DHA daily. Plus I'm eating a lot of salmon, sardines etc. Am I over doing it????? I eat an incredibly healthy diet and exercise at least 5 days a ...

Re: Phospholipids. Good or bad?

I thought Dr. Patrick was discussing that DHA has a harder time getting through the blood-brain barrier of APOe4 people. And if it is in Phospholipid form (like by eating fish/fish roe etc.) it bypasses the normal route of other forms (i.e. Triglyceride) and does what you need it to do. That her big...

Deciding about a clinical trial - prevention

I'm not sure if this is the right place in the forums to post but wanted to get some feedback on a consideration I'm debating to participate in a clinical trial. For reference it is this one: NCT03663387. It is measuring CSF clearance of amyloid and tau from the brain using PET with tracers not appr...
