Re: Doctor treatment recommendations? MTNR1A insight?
I'm in the exact same boat, 59, 3/4! So what I did was download my 23andMe data then joined geneticlifehack. That site has a ton of articles currated by a phd. It's scam free, private, and will give you a ton of info and recommendations about your whole genome. Then look for a doctor who is willing ...

Re: I am very confused on the proper diet to follow due to conflicting info
You want to consider the science, your entire genetic profile, your preferences, and any effects on your laboratory results when choosing a diet. Your other genetic issuess and your experience with a particular diet are important considerations. If a diet makes you sick or shoots your cholesterol in...

Re: Dutch Woman With Dementia Euthanized Against Her Will. The Doctor Was Just Cleared Of Wrongdoing.
Personally, I have no desire to create this burden for my family. I completely understand and I feel the same. I don't know what the answer is. But how can we ignore the wishes of the person who now exists, even if that person used to feel differently? In my limited experience (ADx2), the burden ca...

Re: Experiences with a low saturated fat diet?
Hi Plumster - Sounds like we are taking a similar approach. My cholesterol and lipids continue to be quite low while following a low fat Mediterranean style diet with my husband who has moderate cardiovascular disease per a Dr. Brennen (?) out of UCSF. I believe his approach is similar to the Ornish...

Re: Dutch Woman With Dementia Euthanized Against Her Will. The Doctor Was Just Cleared Of Wrongdoing.
Yes, I woulmind living through mild dementia, but the moment I can't recognise family or require full time care, I'd like to check out. Sadly, by then many health care systems don't allow euthanasia of incoherent people, regardless of advanced directives. Hoping that progress will be made so that pe...

Experiences with a low saturated fat diet?
Some background: After much thought, I've decided to run with a low fat, gluten free, no processed sugar, whole grain, low histamine "vaguely Mediterranean" style diet. My lipids and cholesterol run low, and were only elevated during my one ill-fated experiment with traditional keto, but t...

Cyclophilin A - Basic science jury still out.

However, the first...

Re: Zero carb diet will help prevent Alzheimer’s
Before anybody jumps into a restrictive diet, check ALL your genes. Keto nearly killed me: it's a very poor fit for those with histamine intolerance. Low histamine + keto is so restrictive, I'd starve. I have a disaccridase deficiency, so much grain is out of the question, excluding Mediterranean. A...
