Re: Gauging Interest in a Trial with Valter Longo, PhD

From memory, when I looked at some of Longo's FMD studies years ago, his subjects had a beginning Igf-1 of ~195 and were ~150 after. Just following Gundry's normal plan, my Igf-1 is ~120 and my 4/4 wife's is ~80 (from memory),. So we do a lot better on an ongoing basis than Longo's participants do ...

Re: Questions about Apollo recipes & cholesterol

Theresa, do you mean the same risks as conjugated estrogen (i.e. Premarin)? Because those risks don't apply to synthetic bioidentical hormones. Just looking for clarification. :)

Mosh bars

A long time ago when I first discovered MOSH bars, I asked about it here and someone told me they doubted that Doctor Bredesen had endorsed any products. But I had seen a video with the two of them talking about it, just couldn't locate it. On the Moshlife.com website, here he is endorsing it. I hig...

Re: Questions about Apollo recipes & cholesterol

Hi Plumster, Thanks for the reply. Let me be clear about saturated fat and Apollo's recipes. I re-read my post and don't believe I see anywhere that I said they're promoting high saturated fat levels. But I was dismayed to find that many of the recipes have saturated fat, like butter. Then Julie G r...

Re: Fasting and insulin resistance

Hi Jan18, Valter Longo talks about this phenomenon. Are you fasting in the mornings? He recommends that you eat breakfast and fast in the evenings instead. Or, skip lunch. The good thing is that your lab result will return to normal when you begin eating breakfast, according to Longo. Hi Plumster, ...

Re: Fasting and insulin resistance

That’s incredibly frustrating. I would go through Ulta Labs and retest. I just screwed up my FI too. I put collagen in my coffee and need to retest. Oh bummer about you having to retest. :( But I only had water (40 ounces!) before my labs, no coffee, no food. I guess I will retest the insulin. I'm ...

Re: Calcium

My recollection was that there were many locations where osteoporosis was uncommon in women and intake was 300-400 mg/day. This didn't say what the driver was, but indicated that just loading up with calcium wasn't necessarily they only answer (& I'm not sure how well that works here, anyway.) ...

Fasting and insulin resistance

I just had labs done with Mark Hyman's Function Health program. I've gotten some of the results back at Quest, but I'm still awaiting the official report, which will take a few more weeks. I was shocked to find my insulin at 15 when I regularly fast a minimum of 16 hours and some days up to 22. I at...

Re: Calcium

I limit my intake of Ca++ from food to 400-500 mg/day (no supplements, no dairy). Empirically for me, anything more is bad for my heart's electrical system (i.e. makes afib more likely to occur). Hi, Tincup! That's interesting about the Afib and calcium, even through food. I don't have any heart is...

Re: Calcium

If you can get Kirkland Signature's Almond non-dairy beverage, it has 600 mg calcium per cup, and only 30 calories. Have some vitamin C rich fruit/vegetable with it for better absorption. Also, calcium from kale and similar cruciferus greens is supposed to be highly absorbable. My experience is tha...
