Re: Per my former MD: “ApoE 4/4 risks are completely offset by exercise!”

circular, it does sound like we have similar issues. I would suspect that your body fat % is even lower than mine. Like you, I don't eat gluten or dairy, as I am sensitive to both. I also don't eat corn, rice, or oats, as I'm sensitive to them as well (among a long list of other foods). I've never e...

Re: Per my former MD: “ApoE 4/4 risks are completely offset by exercise!”

Stavia, thank you for this information! Related to circular's question, what do you think of pseudo grains such as quinoa (especially) but also buckwheat? I found it much easier to get enough calories and carbs when I was eating them. I stopped them when I began the paleo autoimmune protocol (AIP) (...

Re: Per my former MD: “ApoE 4/4 risks are completely offset by exercise!”

Thank you, everyone, for your very helpful thoughts. I don't think I'm going to reply to my former doctor's email at all. I am done with him. That said, I do know that I have been too sedentary over the past year (though I've done a fair amount of exercise most of my adult life). I was going to wait...

Per my former MD: “ApoE 4/4 risks are completely offset by exercise!”

I would appreciate your reaction to a reply I received from my former Integrative Medicine MD about my ApoE 4/4 status and how I will be participating in the MEND study. He was my doctor for the last four years I lived in Colorado. I'll call him Dr. B. In my email to Dr. B, I explained how I recentl...

Re: TedX talk by Daniel Amen M.D. about healing the brain

Russ, I also wish he would have said more about treatment protocols. But his talk has inspired me to look into his work and at least get some idea of what they are. His talk is also encouraging me to get the imaging test of which he speaks to see what my brain looks like now. I had a head injury dur...

TedX talk by Daniel Amen M.D. about healing the brain

I just watched an amazing TedX talk by Daniel Amen, MD. He is a Clinical Neuroscientist, Psychiatrist, and Brain Imaging Specialist. The talk (video) is less than 15 minutes long. The talk isn't specifically about Alzheimer's disease, but it is one of the conditions that he discusses. He shares imag...

Re: The Maharishi Welcome Aboard Yogi

Welcomeaboard,

I'm sorry to hear this. We just met recently, and I haven't read many of anyone's posts yet. But I do appreciate your suggestion that I try glycine for sleep. I'm experimenting with that now. If I have worthwhile success with it, I'll let you know.

All the best,
Alysson

Re: Belated intro from Alysson

Hi (again) Alysson! Just posting to say how much I enjoyed meeting you last week! Alysson and I had a mini-metup in person for coffee/tea right after Christmas. How great it was to talk to you...you are so knowledgable about so much health stuff! As is everyone here. I feel so lucky to be able to l...

Re: Belated intro from Alysson

Welcomeaboard, Thanks for identifying your gender, not that it really matters. But it can be impossible to tell with some of our pseudonyms. I wonder if I should have used a name other than my first name because I might be “found out.” But I did a Google search on “alysson,” and there were 933,000 h...
