Fish Oil and Brain Trauma

Interesting stuff, though I think fish oil is now connected with prostate cancer in men (?), and who knows what other adverse effects could come from such high doses, esp in 4s:

Re: Primates and 4/4

I just add plain cinnamon to my sweet potatoes, and oatmeal. I try to use it regularly to help with blood sugar, but I'm not sure the science on that. I find cinnamon alone works for sweet potatoes b/c the SPs already have so much sweetness. Then I always have blueberries in my oatmeal, so they prov...

Genealogy and ApoE4

I do a lot of genealogy, and I never thought about all the generations that had to have had ApoE4, at least one, for me to get it (assuming some weird back mutation didn't occur). And yet, in my research I have no record of dementia on either side of the family until my grandmother and her sister. M...

Re: Primates and 4/4

I'm coming to think that exercise and loads of antioxidants, direct from fresh (or flash frozen), organic, low glycemic foods might compensate for a lot. Look for the thread about the new book Eating Wild in the Diet folder, shop and prepare accordingly, then take long walks thinking about how wonde...

It would be great for Starfish and Gina to post the lifestyle habits here. I find it very interesting when people who may not even have altered their lifestyle in a "healthy" direction skate through, either because "lifestyle" meds compensate, or they have other compensating fact...

Good news Gilgamesh! I just think there's so much we don't know. I think we should give equal emphasis to the unknown goods as we do the known bads.

Re: Primates and 4/4

Interesting isn't it? This article appeared on CNN later http://www.cnn.com/2014/01/15/health/bananas-nutritional-benefits/index.html?hpt=hp_t2 I found the difference in GI between green and ripe bananas quite significant, although I'm more interested in glycemic loads. Meanwhile, I will sometimes c...

Re: Primates and 4/4

Thanks for all the study posts and the random streams of consciousness. Both have value :-) Somehow I didn't know more had been posted here. I must be missing a lot at this site.
