Re: Questions about insulin
Questions for anyone: Do we track grams of net carbs or carbs? Cronometer's default is net carbs and I thought I'd read it is the net carbs on keto that are the important ones. Should I also check the box on Cronometer for "include sugar alcohols in net carbs?" I've read what net carbs are...

Re: Questions about insulin
We are remote. My wife and I schedule an hour (1/2 each, which is minimum) phone appointments many months (usually 6) in advance. About 6 weeks prior, we contact the office and they ship us lab kits and requisitions for all the labs he orders. We make an appointment with a local phlebotomist who dr...

Re: Questions about insulin
There are a lot of moving parts on this path, and most people are most successful making small sustainable changes, one step at a time. And as TheresaB says, one plan doesn't work for everyone. What works for her may not work for you. So no one here can really tell you what you should be eating, bu...

Re: Dr. Steven Gundry with diet recommendations for ApoE4
From the transcript: “ Dr. Gundry: I do want to add a proviso that we check APOE E4 status on everybody and about 25, 30% of people carry one or both of the 4 alleles. Those people I really strongly feel that animal fats are mischief to those folks. Those folks I basically put them on a coconut fat...

Re: Questions about insulin
I'm guessing your hydroxybuterate is β-hydroxybutyrate and you are in ketosis. If you get a meter, you can check, but again I wouldn't stress about it. BTW, Theresa's numbers for this metric are in this ballpark... EEEEK! I found this about alpha-hydroxybutyrate, Tincup! It's the measurement that c...

Yes, doctor said to add in one more fish oil dose every other day and I pushed my carb grams down since then. Hoping next test better!cpatr922 wrote:if your TG is higher than 80 it seems there's still excess carbs consumptions. Increasing fish oil may help from my experience.

Re: Questions about insulin
It is wonderful to hear that you FEEL so much better and i do hope the exercise challenges are soon overcome. Rian Thanks, Rian! My foot and I went to a podiatrist today (some of the PT is hurting, need another angle) and she gave me a plantar fasciitis brace to try. It helps! I'm hopeful. Still ha...

Re: Questions about insulin
Gundry is now taking new patients as he added a PA to his staff. Not sure how that works. You can learn a lot by going through the stuff I linked above, reading the transcripts while looking at our labs. I also linked a lot of interviews/podcasts he's done. In the main post I first linked to, above...

Re: Questions about insulin
He has said this a number of times, but this is the most recent. It is all about context. Free fatty acids are normally thought to be bad by the standard of care, but nobody thinks about it in the context of a keto diet (obviously Gundry does). He looks at is as an indicator of ketosis as he does n...

Re: Questions about insulin
"Free Fatty Acid 0.86" This is indicative that you are in ketosis (given your diet). Dr. Gundry wants us there and gives me grief when my level is lower (which is where standard of care wants you to be). I'm guessing your hydroxybuterate is β-hydroxybutyrate and you are in ketosis. If you...
