Re: Advanced Glycation/sRAGE

Circular, There's a list of foods and their AGEs in this study (just scroll down to Table 2). There you can see that grilled vegetables are very low. You could just add olive oil to the vegetables after grilling? Thanks for the chart Plumbster. I actually don't have a grill. Once in a while I bake ...

Re: Advanced Glycation/sRAGE

Do the recipes focus on grilled/roasted vegetables? Because they don't cause AGEs to form. High Fat + high temperature is the problem--so all meats in particular. That's also why raw nuts are healthier than roasted nuts, which contain AGEs. Hi Plumbster, I probably see it more in reference to grill...

Re: Advanced Glycation/sRAGE

This article is a bit difficult to understand the implications of the minor alleles with regard to APOE4. The OR says 2.6 for E4 carriers but the summary also says there’s no AD risk increase for E4 with regards to the minor alleles. If anyone is bored enough to read this for feedback it would be a...

Re: What’s your Omega-3 dose?

I take a Krill Oil supplement because it provides the DHA in phospholipid form since APOE4 carriers appear to have impaired brain transport of free DHA per Dr Rhonda Patrick’s paper, Role of phosphatidylcholine-DHA in preventing APOE4-associated Alzheimer’s disease (Rhonda Patrick, 5 Oct 2018). Hi ...

Re: FDA Advisory Panel Unanimously Recommends Lecanemab

Most recent studies focus on what happens to people with PD (or Lewy Body Dementia) IF they have ApoE 4, which is the second half of your question. Because these numbers look scary, it's important to note that analysis based on registries of people with the disease, or with first degree relatives, ...

Re: FDA Advisory Panel Unanimously Recommends Lecanemab

At a $26,000 per year cost to Medicare for Lecanemab, drug companies are definitely disincentivised to find cures, which would kill their golden goose annuity. Another example of treat-don't-cure is that insulin keeps millions of diabetics alive, and the price of insulin tripled in the past 10 year...

Re: Dutch Woman With Dementia Euthanized Against Her Will. The Doctor Was Just Cleared Of Wrongdoing.

Personally, I have no desire to create this burden for my family. I completely understand and I feel the same. I don't know what the answer is. But how can we ignore the wishes of the person who now exists, even if that person used to feel differently? In my limited experience (ADx2), the burden ca...

Re: Dutch Woman With Dementia Euthanized Against Her Will. The Doctor Was Just Cleared Of Wrongdoing.

I'm in the camp of someone who'd like to figure out how to do this if dementia comes my way. Me too. I think it's going to be very hard to craft foolproof advance directives when the aging body can be so unpredictable, often presenting unforeseen circumstances that might not jive with the language ...

Re: Chris Palmer, THC and mitochondrial dysfunction

I was seeking some clarification after reading Chris Palmer’s book Brain Energy... Hi BenF, You might google Mikhail Kogan MD who is an integrative medicine doctor at George Washington University Center for Integrative Medicine. He is familiar with Dr. Bredesen's work (may even be collaborating in ...
