Re: I Can Hardly” Believe It Viagra Reduces Alz Risk

Comments (including humourous) welcome... NewRon, I rolled this into an earlier thread on the same topic just to tidy the forum page. All of your posts and replies are copied here. In the article that I read, they seemed to be focused not on the increase in blood flow, but on the effect on Tau or o...

Re: Introduction - would like to meet scientists/biotech folks involved in ApoE research

I'm 44 yrs. old and a molecular biologist by training. I have a PhD and currently lead the research for a biotech company developing a treatment for brain cancer. I'd like to use my free time to work on drugs and therapeutics to mitigate the effects of ApoE4. Eventually, I'd like to start a company...

Re: Viagra for Alzheimer's?

No surprise; it increases blood flow. So does exercise. Arugula, beet root, and others upregulate nitric oxide — all good.

Re: Gene Therapy Trial for ApoE4 Homozygotes

Hey Julie. I was wondering the same thing. The source was a post by ApropoE4 on April 29 in this thread. They didn’t link to the original source. Thank you both. Yes, I would still like to see the original source and can't find it. From a quick skim (as a layperson) this doesn't appear to be a prog...

Re: Gene Therapy Trial for ApoE4 Homozygotes

To add to NF52's great summary - the trial hasn't shown success in 40% of participants - rather it's shown APOE4 expression was down by 40% on average among participants, while APOE2 expression was maintained at least over the months that have passed. What is the source for this information? Might ...

Re: Moving a loved one and re-homing a pet

My brother-in-law has recently passed, and my sister-in-law can not live on her own. I don't have anything of substance to add, but wanted you to know that I care. I also know that you're an amazing sister-in-law and am sending good energy to you and the whole family as you sort through this crisis...

Re: Introduction and Help With ApoE4 Diet

I do not want to start disease in my coronary arteries, but I really do not like the ApoE4 foods. My triglyceride to HDL ratio as of my most recent lipid panel is 1.9, which means that I am insulin resistant and have pattern B LDL, so I should keep my cholesterol and LDL low. Hi Sabby! Overall, you...

Re: European Drug Regulation Advisors Recommend Against Approving Aduhelm in E.U.

You can read a bit more about the Aduhelm associated death here: https://endpts.com/rbc-analyst-reports-aducanumab-case-file-points-to-the-controversial-alzheimers-drug-as-a-likely-cause-of-patient-death/ The FDA tells Endpoints News today that it’s aware of the death of a patient taking Biogen’s co...

Re: European Drug Regulation Advisors Recommend Against Approving Aduhelm in E.U.

It's surprising that they only reference cost as their rationale for not recommending. Given the recent death associated with Aduhelm side effects, it seems like patient safety would have also played a part in their decision making. One patient death after treatment with Aduhelm was reported to the ...
