Re: ApoB question for lipid nerds

Thank you for weighing in, JNB! I've come to the same conclusion that you have that ApoB does reflect LDL-P vs. LDL-C. I like your graphics but do question why you would want the LDL pizza box empty. From my perspective, for the lowest risk, wouldn't we want it loaded with LDL-C?

Re: Is there research showing benefit of low fat diet for apoe4 phenotype?

Why? HDL similar, insulin almost the same, glucose slightly higher, but similar for all, triglycerides very similar. Why only LDL and ApoB differ (elevated in APOE4)? It's well known that E4 carriers hyperabsorb dietary fat. The leading theory is that as the ancestral (original) APOE allele carrier...

Re: ApoB question for lipid nerds

My guess is that the lower LDL-P would be reflected as each low density lipoprotein has an ApoB attached that has nothing to do with it's cargo — LDL-C. Does that seem to be correct?

ApoB question for lipid nerds

I've recently become interested in ApoB as a vascular biomarker based upon Peter Attia's recommendations, but I'm trying to figure out if it accounts for discordancy between LDL-C and LDL-P per MESA data. nihms-274658-f0002-1.jpg From what I understand ApoB measures atherogenic chylomicrons, very lo...

Re: Celebration Thread! Biogen is going to the FDA with Aducan.

I respectfully have a different view: that J11--and I for that matter--are not celebrating drugs; we are celebrating progress in identifying SOME--but not all--drivers of Alzheimer's pathology, specifically amyloid and tau, which seem more prevalent and more toxic in ApoE 4 carriers an earlier age,...

Re: Is there research showing benefit of low fat diet for apoe4 phenotype?

Hello, Does anyone on this forum know of published research that suggests that a low fat diet (all fat, not just saturated) is helpful for mitigating cardio vascular disease for those with apoE4 phenotypes? Great question. A low fat diet was the original recommended diet for our phenotype when we b...

Re: "Their Alzheimer's Disease Didn't Worsen. Why?"

I doubt we all need to buy Peloton machines or become tennis pros. It seems to the level of sustained activity over a long period of time, not one specific activity, that MAY be important for people with MCI. Presumably diet, sleep, social supports, etc. also were in good shape for these men, but w...

Re: p tau217

Has anyone found a way to get a p-tau217 test? Dr. Bredesen is very excited about this one and is partnering with a company to release a fairly inexpensive version soon. The hype about the new/cheap test seems to be making the blood test the diagnostic gold standard. That seems to be the current co...

Re: Announcing a Personalized Precision Medicine Clinical Trial to Reverse Dementia

I finally found a doctor that would order my labs. Going today. Do you have a recommendation of a health coach that is not super expensive that can help me with the food to eat. Or a cook book the site you gave me from Apollo has a picture I need more than that. I know there is a list of doctors an...

Re: Panicking 41yr old grown up man

Instead my results were very favorable. I was recruited for a project to see if I had a genetic reason for how well I was doing and they would like to have blood tests and my brain when I die. Both are fine with me. They would like a spinal test and I said no to that. I have not been a devoted foll...
