The great escape!
Since learning of my 4/4 status at age 65, (now 66), the worst aspect of this news was the idea that I could lose the essence of who I am and forget the faces of those I love.....the prospect of becoming an emotionally empty shell is absolutely terrifying to me. I have found the peace of mind to kno...

Re: Does anyone else use a rebounder?!
I have had a rebounder for years and I like to put on oldies and start jumping! Rebounding to music breaks the monotony for me. If weather permits, I put it outside on the deck to increase the benefits of getting fresh air and sunshine on top of a good cardio and lymphatic workout!

DHA supplement versus eating fish
The more I read about this, the more it appears we need to be eating fish as opposed to taking a DHA supplement. Anyone else eating mackerel and/or sardines regularly? I'm planning on shooting for 5 servings a week, as, at 66, I have no time to waste trying to prevent cognitive decline. This was an ...

Re: Newbie still in shock
Hi Elliep.....I just read your intro from back in February. I am curious to hear how you are doing and how your feeling like "death sentence" had been handed down now? It's certainly a process and I'm sure other newbies might benefit from hearing how those who have known the "bad news...

Re: Does anyone else use a rebounder?!
I have a rebounder and use it for a few minutes daily. It is a great tool to assist lymphatic movement and it is also good for keep bones strong. This is what astronauts use when they come back from space to rebuild their bone density! I also have a vibration machine I use for 5 minutes in the morni...

Re: Anyone else doing a low saturated fat Ketogenic diet?
Great info in this thread. I'm surprised kc425 that you are taking coconut. Everything I have read says no coconut and from the past (years ago and long before I knew my 4/4 status), I was using a lot of coconut thinking I was doing myself a favor and my LDL skyrocketed! I believe my diet is mildly ...

Re: Brand new to group - 1st post
Hi jkramer65! welcome to the group...I only joined a few months ago myself and am still learning so much about this gene. I am also 4/4. My father died at 73 of a massive heart attack, my mother is about to turn 93 later this month and has some mild memory issues that are very acceptable for this ag...

Re: Statins in ApoE4
Statins have too many side effects in my opinion (based on all the research reading I have done on this). From my experience, we were able to bring down cholesterol levels very nicely with diet. My husband and I both had cardio calcium scores done well over a year ago. The results showed plaque for ...
