Re: ApoE4 and life expectancy/longevity

I was just watching this video/transcript from Nutritionfacts that came out two days ago: APOE—The Single Most Important Gene for Longevity" in which Dr. Greger suggests that high cholesterol levels in Apoe4 may be the main cause for less longevity. He proposes that e4s lower LDL by lowering sa...

Re: Statins and Dementia studies

I used to monitor my LDL and apoB, but I don't know anymore if it is relevant. Hi again Maria4/4, here is a reason to monitor LDL and ApoB: Mendelian randomization reveals apolipoprotein B shortens healthspan and possibly increases risk for Alzheimer’s disease Leah Martin, Brian B. Boutwell, Carmen...

Re: Statins and Dementia studies

An LDL of approximately 70 is great, but not particularly low -- except maybe for an e4.

LDL and apoB are the measurements to pay attention to. Optimal apoB is 40-80, ideally below 62.

I would like to discourage you from attempting to raise either LDL or apoB.

Re: Statins and Dementia studies

Hi Maria4/4, Thanks for adding this information to the discussion and for providing the link. Have you tried any of these alternatives yourself? Hi Floramaria, I didn’t try them because my cholesterol levels are low. Perhaps even too low 😒 Too low? Care to elaborate? I assume you are not saying tha...

Re: Pregnant , age 44 & 4/4

Hi there - so we have a surprise pregnancy (but very much wanted). I am 43 but 44 in 2 weeks. I found out about my 4/4 status approx 4 years ago. I fast most days and take the recommended supplements etc. But i have been lax with my diet. My questions are , will this pregnancy ‘accelerate’ any issu...

Re: Exploring Options

Hi, I am not new to this website. I have been creeping on the conversations in the forums for some time. I think I am an APOE 4/4? I had my genes mapped with Nebula Genomics and have found it very difficult to understand the website that can confirm my APOE status. Hence my vagueness re my APOE sta...

Re: (new member) I made an APOe4 GPT

Thanks, AussieinLA,

I'm intrigued, but is there a way to do this without having to provide our emails? I am tempted to create my own version instead.

Re: High HDL risk factor for AD

This article agrees with BrianR's entry that high HDL may be about metabolic disorder in those over 75, and dementia risk.

Here's a link to the study in Lancet.
