Re: Talking about Diet

Concentrate on the big picture. I agree. We all have different lifestyles and food preferences. Legumes are my primary protein source. I eat whole grains, tomatoes, etc. I avoid simple carbs, sugar, cholesterol, too much fat, etc You just need to find what works for you. We are all tweaking what wo...

Re: Talking about Diet

Jan18, I wholeheartedly support Tincup's comment that you are unnecessarily worrying about details. You sound quite panicked. The evidence re many of the details you are worrying about is not robust. Thus conflicting advice re lipids and finer dietary details Concentrate on the big picture. Glycaem...

Re: Talking about Diet

I'm not a doc, but of the stuff you mentioned, oxLDL is what I would care about. Do you have ApoA-1 as well as ApoB? What are they? Hi Tincup, For some reason, I wasn't notified like I usually am through my email that your reply and the ones that follow were posted here! So I'm just seeing them now...

Re: Questions about insulin

It's a simple blood test, always included as a part of a comprehensive metabolic panel. Your doctor likely has old results on file. Since your diet has changed pretty dramatically, you could retest to see where your potassium level falls. It's very tightly regulated and unlikely to have changed muc...

Re: RE: Re: Questions about insulin

Jan here is my viewpoint. This is not personal medical advice. 1. Dizziness is extremely unlikely to be potassium related in the presence of adequate renal function and the absence of an endocrine disease. If you were my patient I would be halving your amlodipine. Potassium absorption and recycling...

Re: Talking about Diet

If you have heart disease concerns, in addition to AD concerns, then perhaps pay attention to the Gundry saturated fat argument - limit animal (& fish) to shellfish, white fish and eggs, realizing his approach is conttroversial. If you have autoimmune issues, then pay attention to the lectin ar...

Talking about Diet

I have questions about our diet protocol re: Gundry and Bredesen. Why are salmon and berries not good for ApoE4's according to Gundry (not sure if that is in Plant Paradox or in one of the interviews I've seen him do.) We can't have tomatoes or can we, if we peel them and discard the inside pulpy st...

Re: Questions about insulin

CHRON-O-meter.com may calculate your potassium intake just fine, but it isn't necessarily a reflection of your serum potassium. Only a simple blood test can reveal that. If you're already struggling with lightheadedness due to hypotension, I'd be VERY hesitant to supplement with potassium. Congrats...

Re: Questions about insulin

I agree with TheresaB who writes Lastly, you may be doing all the right things, it just may take a while. I Ketogenic lifestyle is not easy. It took me many months when I tried it first, with intermittent fasting and carbohydrate restriction. The bacteria in the gut have to adjust, and who knows ho...
