Fibrates and plasmalogens?

Post by Whatnow »

I've read the postings here about plasmalogens. I've also read the book Dr Goodenowe wrote. I understand that they are made in Peroxisomes within our cells. I have also read that Fibrates (drugs which lower high triglycerides and modestly decrease LDL cholesterol and modestly increase HDL cholesterol) cause an increase in the number of Peroxisomes. I was wondering if Fibrates also cause an increase in the amount of plasmalogens produced? Does anyone know? I did not see this mentioned in Goodenowe's book or anywhere else, for that matter. It sounds like an interesting question to me, though.
