Do standard hibiscus teas have this compound, or do only a subset of hibiscus species have the compound and one has to specially source the right ones?

It refers to Hibiscus Sabdariffa in the research paper. This seems to be the main varietal (if that's the correct word) used in hibiscus tea worldwide.

This study was done on a mouse model of familial AD, not the sporadic AD that we're at risk for. Hibiscus might be helpful for us too, but you can't tell from the study.
But hibiscus tea is still delicious, regardless of your genetics!
