My intro

Post by tbonez »

Hi all.

Just turned 69 and I'm still clinging to most of my wits. But when your mind may be slowly dripping down the drain, how do you know? Several times per year, I check to see if I'm fooling myself by doing a SAGE exam (Self Administered Gerocognitive Exam). So far, so good.

I learned my APOE status through 23 and me, and confirmed it through Dash Genomics. I've been self-experimenting with gamma frequency light and sound since 2018 after hearing about the MIT 40 hz light experiments in the Radio Lab podcast. I hope to compare notes on that with other people here.

See you in the forum!

Hello, Tom!

My name is Natalia and I am one of the Support Team Interns here. I would like to officially welcome you to our forums since it looks like you have joined us very recently.

If you would like to explore the site in more detail, I can share several tools/resources to help you get the most out of your experience. The Primer is a detailed and informative resource written by a practicing M.D. with ApoE4/4. It includes information about the biochemistry of the ApoE4 gene and offers a variety of research-based prevention strategies.

Take a look at all of the interesting subjects we have relating to cognitive health WIKI Main Page . You can clink on any on the topics and it will take you to the main article.

Some helpful tips to navigate the site include the How-To Guide. It includes topics such as navigating the forum, private messaging, and searching. One great tip is using the quote (") button when replying to a post. Using the button will automatically alert the member of your response.

If you are interested in learning more about other members check out Our Stories.

Also, just want to say Happy Birthday and may you have a wonderful year ahead of you! It sounds like you have been doing a lot of work to be aware of your own risk of cognitive decline but also taking some steps to help keep your brain healthy and strong. Thank you so much for sharing this information with our members and I am sure some of them can share feedback as well.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out. We are all here for you!

Warmly,
Natalia

Hi Tom

Try the free Cq test on the Apollo site, you could track your progress through that.

I do one every 6 months or so and I get my clients to retest regularly too. Although they might "feel" better, it's great to be able to put a number on it!

Good luck!

Thanks, but I already have a testing system in place with several years worth of test results on file, so don't want to "start over." -- Tom

Oh, I misunderstood the "...how do you know" comment. Of course, your own test results, if you have lots of data over time, are the best.

How are you finding the gamma frequency light and sound? Have you noticed any difference in your SAGE scores or trend since starting?

Tom, and what are you - 3/4, 4/4, etc.? This will make a difference in how you may want to approach your AD prevention journey.
