Re: Announcing a Personalized Precision Medicine Clinical Trial to Reverse Dementia
Hi Julie
I am new and just found out that I have two apoe4 genes like my mother who is 72 and was just moved to memory care due to the progression. So I am just trying to navigate all of this. My understanding is if anyone documents this then long term care insurance is no longer an option, which makes it very difficult to be proactive in prevention. So when involved in a trial do they share this information disqualifying a person from future long term care insurance?
Thank you so much!

I don't know about the trial, but there are quite a few things you can do without involving yourself with the medical system. I'm 69 and my 4/4 wife is 64 and we do what we do on our own.Computer15 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 24, 2023 3:03 pm My understanding is if anyone documents this then long term care insurance is no longer an option, which makes it very difficult to be proactive in prevention. Do you participate in recode. I want to start that program but it’s very expensive. I am only 41 but I already feel that my memory is not doing well. My mom was diagnosed so young and got worse so quick.
Any info you can provide me I would be very appreciative. Thank you so much!

We do not. Having put one chronic illness (afib) mostly into remission (my time in afib in the first 4 months was 57%, 19 years ago, currently 0.03% with scant help from docs, it is my MO to do the research & figure it out myself. My mom passed with dementia, I'm an only child, so was responsible for organizing her care in her last 10 years of life, hence I'm very aware. Additionally mom's younger sister is very demented now. On my wife's side, she's the 5th of 5. Two have passed and the other two are materially demented (one sister and one brother). So it isn't like we are cavalier about this. We are disciplined. When one childhood friend came down with afib, I offered to show him what I do. His response, "you have a six-sigma lifestyle & I have no interest." Which is fine.

Where can I get testing done privately?
Re: Announcing a Personalized Precision Medicine Clinical Trial to Reverse Dementia
For blood tests, there is a list of companies where you can order labs from Quest and Labcorp. New Century is usually the cheapest, but not always. They only work with Quest. There are a couple of states that don't allow you order through these companies. I don't know all of them, but New York comes to mind as one.
I've not investigated cognitive testing, but I know others here have. For imaging, you'd need to get a script from a medic.

Thank you!
Where can I find more info about recode and who can provide that program and if it’s worth it as it seems very expensive. As well as what is best to eat and supplements to take.

One of the wiki articles here on the ApoE4.info website addresses Dr Bredesen's protocol: Bredesen ProtocolComputer15 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 24, 2023 7:12 pm Where can I find more info about recode and who can provide that program and if it’s worth it as it seems very expensive. FYI, since you're only 41 you should know there's ReCode aimed at reversing cognitive decline in Early Stage Alzheimer's. There's also the PreCode aimed at Optimizing Brain Health and Prevent Cognitive Decline. You can learn more about and compare the two at the Apollo Health website: Solutions for Cognitive Decline

I'm sure others here can tell you about ReCode. Have you read Dr. Bredesen's books: "The End of Alzheimer's: The First Program to Prevent and Reverse Cognitive Decline" and "The End of Alzheimer's Program: The First Protocol to Enhance Cognition and Reverse Decline at Any Age" see here.. If not, they are a good place to start. As well, we have a Primer written by a member who is a GP (MD) in another country. It was written a few years ago, but still is a good intro.Computer15 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 24, 2023 7:12 pm Where can I find more info about recode and who can provide that program and if it’s worth it as it seems very expensive.
