Hello,
I am so glad to have found this community! My husband was diagnosed with vascular dementia after he had multiple strokes four years ago. He has one APOe4 gene. A year and a half after his strokes, I found Dr. Bredesen’s work and then began working with a functional medicine practitioner. His subsequent progress has been remarkable, but we do have setbacks from time to time and must constantly monitor lab work and adjust his medications/supplements. I am his full-time caregiver. We have been struggling with high homocysteine levels and excessive copper. He takes supplements for both. I’m posting to see if you all have any additional experience with homocysteine and copper levels and if so, if you would share your experiences/recommendations. Thank you in advance!

As a Support Team Intern, I am happy to welcome you to our site!
Wow, four years as a caregiver... we could learn so much from your experience. I'm glad you have found a functional medicine practitioner to work with. The progress your husband makes may make rolling with the occasional setbacks a tad bit easier.
I imagine you will hear from folks on this site who are well versed regarding your questions of high homocysteine and excessive copper. In the meantime you may want to explore the Wiki Main Page. If you scroll down you will find at 4.15: MTHFR gene, methylation and homocysteine.
Again, TStrong, welcome. Please don't hesitate to reach out again with questions or to share more about you and your spouse.
Sincerely,

Thank you, Therese. I appreciate the warm welcome and the resources. After my husband's diagnosis it would have been so helpful to have been handed a binder with the various tools I'd need or directed to a website with resources.
