Mega Benfothiamine
(for peripheral neuropathy, also mentions blood sugar regulation and reduced advanced glycation end products)
Thank you for this wonderful summary, JML. Years ago, I heard Dr. Russell Swerdlow lecture about benfothiamine in relation to Alzheimer's. Apparently, a deficiency in thiamine can interfere with glucose uptake in the brain. Recent studies have shown that it's neuroprotective, even slowing cognitive decline. Learn more here. Thiamine (or benfothiamine, longer acting) is vital for a healthy metabolism, specifically cerebral glucose uptake.

I found this really interesting podcast from Oct 2019. It talks about fat and carbs and genetics. I thought I would share. I would love to hear others thoughts.

The next virtual meet-up will be on Sunday March 10 at 3:00 pm CT on Zoom. A calendar invitation was just sent to all who have expressed an interest in joining in the past (and have shared their email addresses). Looking forward to seeing everyone who can attend!

Please reply here if you have not attended before, but would like to and I will arrange to get the Zoom link to you.

Hi JG76 -

Welcome! My name is Holly and I'm a Support Intern here. I wanted to let you know that Julie will send you a Zoom link for the Virtual Meet-up, so keep an eye out for that.

Also, while I'm here, I will give you a few tips that I usually provide to new members that may make it easier to navigate the site.

The How-To Guide includes topics such as navigating the forum, private messaging, and searching. One great tip is using the quote (") button when replying to a post. Using the button will automatically alert the member of your response.

Here is a link with tips for advanced searching on the site. You might want to do some searching on other members’ experiences in Our Stories.

Of course there is a wealth of information in both the Wiki and also the Primer , which is a detailed and informative resource written by a practicing M.D. with ApoE4/4.

I hope you find the information and support you need from this community! Please reach out if you have any questions!

Kindly,
Holly
