I'm not sure about the p-tau 181 alone, but it's offered as a part of three test package called the Amyloid-Tau-Neurodegeneration (ATN) Profile as described here for $626.

However, I would encourage you to wait for the p-tau 217 test which is considered to be highly accurate for diagnosing AD, whereas the version you mentioned is not. Your doctor can order a p-tau 217 now, and it will soon be available direct-to-consumer.

Someone else may have better information, but from what I understand, the PrecivityAD2 test test is currently available now. You can learn more here. The downside is that p-tau 217 is not reported as a single biomarker but rather incorporated into an algorithm that also includes abeta, so p-tau 217 results aren't clear. Your physician can order this.

This article states that the p-tau 217 as a stand-alone test will soon be available from your physician. A direct-to-consumer version will also be available in the next few weeks that may offer some advantages as you can keep results from your medical record if so desired.

I had the test done p-tau 181 it cost 300.00 at labcorp and I had 42/40 ratio test done @ 300.00 at quest which I recommend. Insurance cover it. I’m going to get the other test done p-tau 217 . I’m a 3/4. Thanks Tony.

Hi Tony,

thanks. I've never heard Dr. Bredesen mentioned the 42/40 ratio test. Is this test used in the Recode program?

thanks,

He did talk about it in one of this talks on you tube. I listen to them on you tube interview . It’s a test for amyloid ratio in your brain.

Hi Tony,

thanks again.

Just to clarify, Dr. Bredesen is moving away from this recommendation in lieu of the p-tau-217 test.
