In laurie's posts and also in her husband's books there are lists of things that have lots of aluminum. These include some deodorants, cooking pots & pans, baking powder (and the discussed coffee makers). The big thing, in my experience, is to consume the high OSA silica water as well as being mindful of avoiding the sources. Don't think you can avoid the aluminum in fresh food.Quantifier wrote: ↑Sun Nov 12, 2023 11:25 pm What do you do to avoid dietary aluminum? I made a mistake and made a corrected post. I can't figure out how to get rid of my mistake post. I erased it but can't figure out how to delete it. Sorry

As you say there is aluminum in the soil. Regarding vegetable and fruits some plants accumulate more than average aluminum than others. Soy, tea, cocao beans are examples. In addition, you don't want to eat anything cooked in aluminum cookware or a pan lined with aluminum foil.Quantifier wrote: ↑Sun Nov 12, 2023 11:25 pm

You asked what I do to avoid aluminum. I don’t use a drip style coffee maker for heating water for tea or coffee. Most drip style coffee makers add aluminum because the heating element is mounted on an aluminum tube. I eat baked goods and baking powder contains a lot of aluminum. So I make sure the baking powder is aluminum free. Here is a link to sources of aluminum. https://prevent-alzheimers-autism-strok ... -aluminum/
Here is some information from one of my husband's book.
"High levels of aluminum in some foods is due to plants growing in high aluminum soils, including soybeans, tea, and cocao trees producing cocao beans used to make chocolate." "Soybeans prefer acidic soil for growth. Acid soil contains more bioavailable aluminum than basic soil. The bioavailable aluminum in the soil is absorbed by the soybean plant during growth leading to high levels of aluminum in the soybean. In Japan, the soybeans were found to contain 12mg/kg of aluminum and soy based freshly mixed instant baby formula was found to contain 1mg/liter of aluminum592." 592. Shurtleff, W., and Aoyagi, A.; History of Soymilk and other non-dairy milks; (2013)
"Alum (a.k.a. aluminum sulfate) used as a fertilizer increases root growth in tea plants and makes tea grow quicker. For this reason alum is used for tea fertilization. However, this practice has enhanced the aluminum concentration in tea leaves. Aluminum in a 1.5gram tea bag varies with the type of tea and is approximately 0.8-1.0mg. in both green and black tea388.Approximately 25% of this aluminum dissolves in hot water resulting in a cup of tea with an aluminum concentration of 700mcg/liter389,390. Re: Aluminum as a causal factor of Alzheimer's - Introduction of myself to the community
More evidence aluminum is the cause of Alzheimer's.
The headlines from a recent study proposes Apoe4/4 is a distinct genetic form of Alzheimer’s disease and not a risk factor. (Fortea, et al. titled ‘APOE4 homozygozity represents a distinct genetic form of Alzheimer’s disease’). If this were true then the penetrance for Alzheimer’s for people with Apoe4/4 would be close to 100%. The study found a penetrance of 88 % for people with ApoE 4/4. You might be thinking a penetrance rate of 88% is extremely high and therefore worrisome and it is, however the two populations used for the study are skewed. One population was people diagnosed with Alzheimer’s.
My husband Dennis N Crouse has done a write up about this study. He goes over the limitations of the study but more importantly, he explains how the findings support aluminum being the cause of Alzheimer’s, and therefore, if people with Apoe4/4 and APOE 3/4 and APOE 2/4 eliminate aluminum and drink silica water, they will not get Alzheimer’s!
Fortea et al. suggests the expected age for symptom onset, including the appearance of biomarkers for AD, are influenced by lifestyle factors and indeed this is the case. From the study: “In conclusion using AD biomarkers to predict penetrance for ApoE 4 homozygous people is not accurate because there are lifestyle factors that influence the biomarkers uses in this study (Ab-42 PET and p-tau).” Exposure to aluminum is one of the lifestyle factors which influenced the data in this study. https://prevent-alzheimers-autism-strok ... -apoe-4-4/

Thank you for all of this information, Laurie! Also please thank your husband for his hard work and diligence in this area.
Has Dennis been able to discover insights as to why PSEN-1 positive (Familial AD) carriers seem to accumulate much more aluminum than the other AD subsets?
https://www.j-alz.com/content/human-exp ... 9s-disease
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/31958088/
My father was diagnosed with Familial Autosomal Early Onset Alzheimer's (PSEN-1) and we have a strong family history of the same. I am waiting on my test results. Up to now, there seems to be a link emerging for me with potential defects in sulfur metabolism. Maybe PSEN-1's are retaining and excreting aluminum at the same rates as others can...
Your husband's perspective would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Eddie R

People with familial AD may absorb aluminum at a higher rate. There is no research I am aware of that shows the mechanism as to why people with familial Alzheimer's have more aluminum in their brains.
Great you found Matthew Mold and Chris Exley's study on the brains of people with familial Alzheimer's having the largest amounts of aluminum.
Here is another study of aluminum in the brains of people with Alzheimer's. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/28159219/ 2017 'Aluminium in brain tissue in familial Alzheimer's disease'
Here is information from Dennis on PSN 1 gene. "Aluminum inhibits the formation of SAM and increases homocysteine, a biomarker of AD as per rung 15 in my fourth book. Low SAM results in hypomethylation and this epigenetically increases PS1 expression as per attached paper by Fuso. Lowering aluminum levels with OSA and taking a vitamin B supplement would be considered prudent for those with the PS1 gene. Here is more information which may be helpful to you from Dennis' book Finding a cause and potential cures, Rung 3 . "An analogy of aluminum accumulation causing familial EOAD is aluminum accumulation causing EOAD in people with Down syndrome. "Histochemical studies of human neurons taken from autopsied brains of donors carrying the familial AD PS1-E280A mutation have found high levels of aluminum co-located with amyloid plaque (figure 36)28. My father has been drinking Fiji water every day since 2020, when I found your husband's information. I have all of Dennis' books and going back over them now. Please thank your husband for the work he's done, it as been tremendously helpful for all of us.
We started to see initial improvements with my dad on the Fiji/Silica water but he has still overall declined as we've been working on other areas (holes in the roof), that needed attention, with the Bredesen Protocol. I'm sure these other issues developed downstream from all the issues aluminum toxicity creates in the body. We were just able to get his last mercury amalgam out of his mouth last month, so with faith, we press on. My father also has some SNP's that seem to make his Sulfation sub-optimal. Wondering if other PSEN-1's are absorbing aluminum at the same rate as everyone else but have issues clearing it slower than the rest of the population?
Thank you for your response.
Re: Aluminum as a causal factor of Alzheimer's - Introduction of myself to the community
I hope you can continue to find ways to help your father improve. Regarding aluminum absorption vs aluminum elimination, from what Dennis has read it is most likely about people absorbing more aluminum rather than not being able to remove aluminum from the body. I hope with the knowledge you have gained you will be able to prevent yourself from getting Alzheimer's. Dennis appreciates hearing that the information in his books has been helpful to you and your family.
