On checking the referral it is actually the FDG-PET they are sending me for. Thank you for the kind reply.

I had really bad fatigue for ages after the shingles which was on my face / ear...(I have read this can be linked with cognitive problems also) but thankfully after about a year the fatigue is a bit better.

I have found that my memory clinic appointment is now next month as they had a cancellation, I have asked them if I should get a PET scan but they said no, as already had a CT and didn't want anymore radiation to my head. So I will find out then if they want to do anymore scans or tests. Feeling a bit nervous, but we're lucky to have a centre of research into brain health in the city, so it will be interesting to see what they say and look into the research they are doing.

One of the studies I have noticed was about ketones, and diet, another about dental hygiene and included free hygienist treatment monthly- this could be good as it is hard to find a NHS dentist now and the hygienist treatments are expensive!

I am wondering if I do get a 'diagnosis' maybe cognitive impairment, they might follow up with me and I can stay in contact regarding such research etc and maybe help others in the process. I'm still worried, but that is me trying to be positive (as so many of you on this site are)
Hi Orangeblossom

How is the stress now? Any better? I have to work hard on my stress too - and I've had some stress related symptoms. I just wanted to let you know that I found a great process that has helped me quite a lot. It's called "The Journey", it's guided imagery stuff that has really helped me see things a bit differently and to let go of a lot of stuff that I hadn't realised was affecting me.
https://home.thejourney.com
The great thing is that as the practitioners are close to getting their certification, they have to do 50 case studies, free of charge, so if you contact them, you may well be able to get some help free.
I actually met my practitioner at an FMCA networking event, so I'm not sure of the process to find the free ones, but get in touch with them and see how they can help.

good luck - let us know how you get on!

Thanks for the reply Lindsay, I've had the scan and just waiting for the results now. they are going to discuss it in a meeting before letting me know. We went away for a few days holiday which was nice.

Having a few days holiday is exactly the right thing to do after cognitive testing and PET scans, in my opinion!

My husband and I went on a 2-week holiday to the south of Spain and Lisbon after I had my "end of the second year" cognitive tests, PET scans and MRI for the AHEAD trial of an anti-amyloid drug. We should always find time for holidays!

I asked for my scan results, but haven't spoken to the doctors yet, It looks Ok though I think.

"There is occasional mildly prominent sulcus but taking this into account there is no convincing patent of hypometabolism to suggest evidence of a neurodegenerative disorder from this test".

“No convincing pattern of hypometabolism to suggest evidence…” means, in lay person terms, IMHO, “this brain is working just fine and as we’d expect in a healthy 47 year old woman.” Might be time to plan another holiday to celebrate!

Thanks! It's been a bit of a worry. I've been advised to exercise and stay social etc, so going to go swimming later.
