AH Thanks. Sorry. I might have Alzheimer's! lol. at least not yet anyway. hehe.MarcR wrote:The member had EXACTLY one E4. She already knew that she was NOT a 4/4. This implies that she is CT at rs429358. With that fact as a given, the other options, 2/4 and 3/4, can be distinguished by looking only at rs7412. I used the chart at the SNPedia APOE page to figure that out for her.jkramer65 wrote:But I mean CC AND CC so if you are CC at rs7412 and a CC at rs429358 isn't that a 4/4?MarcR wrote:Yes, my suggestion quoted above is particular to the other member's situation in which having one E4 is already a given.
So CC alone with rs7412 is one copy of an e4 correct?
What am I not getting?

Re: Polygenic info used to identify risk of AD
So just looking at the pattern, if you are 4/4, your Hazard score goes to 99-100% with a 50% chance of having AD by 80 years old, where as 3/4's Hazard scores vary between 81 and 93 with 50% not until 86 years old. Does that mean that 3/4s have a better chance of changing their likelihood of getting AD than 4/4s based on lifestyle changes?

Re: Polygenic info used to identify risk of AD
I happened to see this encouraging news today about some things coming down the pipeline. But I also noticed that it said that everyone has a 50% chance of developing Alzheimer’s by age 85. I’m not sure it makes any difference in my thoughts about my chances, but it seemed I was a bit less unusual. I know that I could develop symptoms well before age 85 or 90. A 15% chance or whatever is still a chance. But it was an interesting short article.

As a 4/4, it seems as though the test would be a waste of money. So just looking at the pattern, if you are 4/4, your Hazard score goes to 99-100% with a 50% chance of having AD by 80 years old, where as 3/4's Hazard scores vary between 81 and 93 with 50% not until 86 years old.
3/4s certainly have a better chance of not developing AD, but this test doesn't address epigenetic influences for either group.Does that mean that 3/4s have a better chance of changing their likelihood of getting AD than 4/4s based on lifestyle changes?
Re: Polygenic info used to identify risk of AD
I was wondering since 3/4s have a broad Hazard range, while 4/4s do not, if that implied more variability among 3/4s and maybe more effect from changes.Julie G wrote:3/4s certainly have a better chance of not developing AD, but this test doesn't address epigenetic influences for either group.
