Well then I will just not age and solve that damn problem and everybody says there is no cure or prevention, HA HA! I say to them.
Re: Aging is - by FAR - the biggest risk factor for dementia
It would be interesting to enumerate the molecular issues in aging and disease. Two I can think of:
1. Loss of heterozygosity. Probably a big issue in cancers of continually reproducing tissues like colon cancer. Maybe not so much with AD? Seems like not an issue if you're already 4/4, but I still don't completely understand the genetics of APOE4, so I might not be correct.
2. Something I would call "expansion." I don't know if there's a scientific term for it, but it's my sort of pet term for cellular decay. I call it "expansion" because to me it more precisely defines what's going on. As cells age, the molecular structure becomes more "sloppy," or in a stricter numerical sense, the types of molecules in and around cells become more numerous, and less recognized, the number "expands." That creates big problems in an autoimmune sense because now you have cells that will trigger immune system responses while they are still functional.
I'm sure lots of other things going on with aging.

This is precisely why I'm seeing an "anti-aging" specialist. Of course all organic matter will age and perish - we're pretty far from evolving into amorphous light beings. I just want to delay it for as long as "humanly" possible...and keep my wits about me when the final curtain falls.
Hell, mebbe not, though. Okay - new plan: keep wits about me until an hour before kicking. Then dementia can set in all it wants.

Does Botox count??? Just being cheeky, sorry! I had to. I'm not saying I'm not thinking of it.

FWIW, I did ask Dr. Perlmutter about that, Asia. Turns out to be a big No-No for us. Apparently, a small amount does make it's way through our leaker BBB. ApoE4 is about going au naturel No worries; the clean living is w-a-y more effective than Botox

OMG, that's our Jewel! Always thinking! Love it. Thanks! You know, I've always said I'll use my own body fat as a filler if I ever go that route. Which I probably will. I should be able to "fill" until 2050.Juliegee wrote:FWIW, I did ask Dr. Perlmutter about that, Asia. Turns out to be a big No-No for us. Really??? Well that is just not fair. Ok, I get it "ancestral" allele. Vanity doesn't get it but I do.

that really depends on your genetics. i\early onset mutations don't let you live that long
