Thank you Julie for organizing these virtual meet-ups and providing follow-up notes for reference.

To add to your list, we also briefly discussed the NY Times article Study Suggests Genetics as a Cause, Not Just a Risk, for Some Alzheimer’s that addressed this paper published in Nature APOE4 homozygosity represents a distinct genetic form of Alzheimer’s disease.

We discussed how this does not mean that everyone with ApoE4/4 will get Alzheimer disease, that biomarkers do not equate to symptomtic disease, and that the population in the study was biased, far from representing general population.

Hi Alison!

On behalf of the Support Team and the entire forum, I want to welcome you to our community!

Julie L moderates virtual meet-ups every few months. She will see this post and send you a Private Message, which you'll get an email about, before that happens, probably in September. You can see Private Messages (also called PMs) in the envelope folder next to your username in the upper right corner of the Board Index. If there is a new message, it will have a small 1 next to it.

In case you are new to our site, here are some resources:

The How-To Guide includes topics such as navigating the forum, private messaging, and searching. One great tip is using the quote (") button when replying to a post. Using the button will automatically alert the member of your response.

You can read about other members' experiences and post your own on Our Stories.

You can browse a wealth of information in both the Wiki and also the Primer , which is a detailed and informative resource written by a practicing M.D. with ApoE4/4.

I hope you find the information and support you need from this community! Please reach out if you have any questions!
