Recommendations for British practitioners?

Post by NS99 »

Hi everyone

I wondered if anyone has any advice on British Drs trained in Bredesen, or on the pros and cons of paying for Recode vs what you can do yourself? (there are no UK Drs in the practitioners section)

I’m 39, 3/4 and at risk of early menopause (another risk factor for AD). I have various neurological symptoms including dizziness and headaches and never recovered my memory after my son was born 2 years ago – I assume this is perimenopause ‘brain fog’ but I’m pretty worried about it progressing to long term cognitive decline

I’ve tried to get tat the Alzheimer’s prevention clinic at Cornell but I’m pretty sure they are not going to see international patients.

I follow the work of Richard Isaacson as well as having read Dr Bredesen’s book and am doing all the generic stuff - keto, time restricted eating, exercise, supplements balancing hormones etc, however my symptoms continue. I also have had most of the biomarkers recommended in Dr Bredesen’s book taken and am working to improve those that are off course, however I’m not totally sure there are lots I am missing.

I’m debating seeing Dr Greenland in London who does the Bredesen protocol but he is so expensive! I’m able to pay for it if it is worthwhile but I'm a little worried I won’t get much more than what I can/am already doing myself… https://www.greenland-medical.com/the-bredesen-protocol

I’ve seen precode recommended but unfortunately the report is only available to those in the US.

I wondered has seen Dr Greenland and would recommended him and/or if someone who has used a Dr trained in the Bredesen protocol can give any insight into whether it was worth the money and much more extensive and personalised than what anyone can do themselves? (like most Brits I don’t have health insurance!)

Many thanks for any insights!

Hi Natalie, It is great that you are doing "all the generic stuff" from Dr Isaacson and Dr. Bredesen's book. Congratulations on putting that into action for yourself. When I read Dr Bredesen's first published study, I did exactly the same, taking the common elements and applying them to myself. Are you using The End of Alzheimer's or The End of Alzheimer's Program? Both have a lot of great information. Following the ketogenic diet combined with intermittent fasting and exercise are very positive interventions. It is concerning, though, that at your young age you are having cognitive problems.

I can't advise you on whether or not to work with Dr Greenland. I looked at the website and it seems to be a comprehensive program. It may be a good choice if you can afford it. Considering that you are having neurological symptoms like headaches, dizziness and memory loss, working with a doctor does seem crucial. Is it possible for you to be evaluated by a neurologist, possibly before deciding on whether or not to see Dr Greenland? My suggestion is that given your symptoms, seeing a specialist would be advisable.

I have not heard that PreCODE is only available in the US.

Thanks very much, you are quite right, I read it incorrectly. It is just the PreCODE labs that are only available in the US. The rest of the program is available anywhere.
