They ask for quite a bit of data and signing my rights away at the end to sign up for a virtual conference...makes me uncomfortable

I've attended several virtual conferences through the Alzheimer's Association. They don't send me fundraising emails, but I do get notices of other conferences, some of which are clearly aimed at neuroscientists. But no one is asking for a credit card!

You're right, of course! Mine also when I signed up. What I meant to say is that I haven’t been bombarded with fund-raising emails and the credit card hasn’t been hacked. (More than I can say for a certain restaurant in Cape Canaveral in 2021!)
. They use my email to send a secure Zoom link to access the meeting, and when I couldn’t attend one, sent a link for the recording.
