Post by TheresaB »

The support interns introduce the ApoE4.info wiki to all the "newbies" but what about the "oldbies"? If you haven’t visited the ApoE4.info wiki lately, you’ve missed out on many updates.

Did you know:

*That Blacks and Hispanics hold lower levels of amyloid yet have higher rates of dementia than whites, Blacks 2xs and Hispanics 1.5xs. It’s in Of Non-White or Non European Descent

*That there is a study that suggests that the relationship between APOE4 and lipids may be beneficial for pathogen-driven immune responses and unlikely to increase cardiovascular risk. It’s in ApoE ε4 and health conditions besides (or maybe contributing to) Alzheimer’s

*That a lateral ankle sprain may influence your gut microbiota? It’s in Gut-Brain Connection: Leaky Gut/Leaky Brain, Microbiome (gut bugs)

*That there appears to be a connection between meat consumption and Type 2 Diabetes? It’s in Insulin Resistance

*Most of us know Omega-3s are very important for our brains, but did you know Omega-3s also benefit muscles? It’s in Fats, Omega -3(ω-3) & -6(ω-6), DHA and More

*That salt can stimulate fructose production in the body? It’s in From Fructose to Alzheimer’s

*That slow paced breathing facilitates clearing of Aβ42 and pTau-181? It’s in Vagus Nerve

*10,000 steps is often cited as the goal, but is that truly how many daily steps that you need? The answer can be found in Exercise - Types, Lengths, and Benefits

*Proton Pump Inhibitors (Prilosec, Prevacid, Nexium, Losec) have been associated with a risk for dementia? It’s in Mitochondria

*Certain plant chemicals have anti-amyloid, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and anticholinesterase properties - the four fundamental pillars identified in the process of Alzheimer’s? It’s in Beneficial (and some negative) Plant/Natural Chemicals

*That your body creates it’s own cannabinoids and it is theorized that certain health conditions are the result of the body not producing enough cannabinoids and/or that there are not enough receptors that function properly. It’s in Cannabinoids: CBD, CBN, THC. Also HEMP & Marijuana (Cannabis)

As an "oldie" in every sense of the word, I deeply appreciate this. I have enough trouble keeping up with Facebook posts of friends' dogs looking cute, so this will be a great source for reading during what passes for "winter" in the Mid-South.
4/4 and still an optimist!

Here it is September, most of the 2024 has passed and there have been many updates to the ApoE4.info wiki this year. If it’s been a while since you visited, maybe it’s time to do some reading in the wiki.

Some wiki articles have had some significant additions/revisions/updates:
Introduction to APOE4
ApoE ε4 and health conditions besides (or maybe contributing to) Alzheimer’s
Sleep
Scientific support for and against a diet higher in protein than the RDA‎‎
Inflammation and LPS (lipopolysaccharides)

We also have a brand new wiki:
A Deeper Dive into APOE4
This wiki doesn’t contain every single ApoE4 paper/reference ever published, but if searching for a particular subject relating to ApoE4, this does contain a good number of them and might be a good place to start.

Other wiki articles that have had some updates this year:
Of Non-White or Non European Descent
Insulin Resistance in the Brain
Exercise – Types, Lengths, and Benefits
Mitochondria
Ketosis and Ketogenic Diet
Fats, Omega -3(ω-3) & -6(ω-6), DHA and More
Gut-Brain Connection: Leaky Gut/Leaky Brain, Microbiome (gut bugs)
Alcohol Consumption
Bredesen Protocol
Circadian Rhythm
Beneficial (and some negative) Plant/Natural Chemicals
Cannabinoids: CBD, CBN, CBG, THC etc. Also HEMP & Marijuana (Cannabis)
Coffee (and caffeine)
