Oura ring
Re: Oura ring
I love my Oura ring. I've had one for many years. I'm on my second ring and plan to get the recently introduced next generation ring when the battery on my current ring starts to show that its running out. Steps, miles, Heart Rate Variability, deep sleep, REM sleep, ovenight oxygenation, on and on, it tells me things that are important to me.

Re: Oura ring
Yes, but how do you interpret all that data? Should I show it to a sleep specialist?
Re: Oura ring
The color of the bars: blue, orange, red, tell me optimal range or pay attention range.
You can get a lot of insight - trends, reports, experiment ideas, etc. if you hit the 4 bars on the lefthand side of the app.
Using heart rate variability as an example, if I click on the i, it gives me a short definition of what HRV is and a link to a more in-depth article. Also, if I click on the > (arrow) to the right, it shows me a trendline and discoveries that impact HRV from the Oura community.

Does yours tell you how to improve your sleep? I don’t think mine does
Re: Oura ring
It does. Is your app up to date?
For example, with my sleep score last night it told me my sleep efficiency wasn't optimal, that I may have had thoughts swirling in my head (which I did) and how to help with that.
Another resource for ideas with how to help your sleep would be to visit our ApoE4.info wiki Sleep which has a long list of ideas to improve sleep hygiene Sleep hygiene practices for better sleep.
A dovetail to that would be our ApoE4.info wiki Circadian Rhythm which has a section Strategies to improve circadian synchronization.

Re: Oura ring
I have had Oura 2 and Oura 3 over the last several years. Love it. I am grandfathered in for life so I don't pay any monthly free. I trust the accuracy of the data over any smart watch I have worn. The app is very elegant with tons of easy to understand information and guidance insights. For sports activities though I do use a smart watch so I can see my distance and performance stats in real time during my workouts.

I'm an intern on the Apoe4 forum and wanted to thank you for contributing to the discussion on the Oura ring. I too have an Oura ring and love it but do understand people use the ring for various data points and the experience is very personal.

Re: Oura ring
I used Oura ring and Fitbit. The analytics and accuracy of the Fitbit (charge 6) was much better than the Oura ring. You can check Youtube comparison review of both. Fitbit also has a far superior presentation of the sleep analytics which I look at every morning. The Fitbit advance sleep analytics require a subscription which is well worth the money. I'm not selling Fitbit. This is just my personal experience.

Re: Oura ring
I love my Oura ring for sleep tracking. I definitely see the impact of drinking alcohol, having late meals, or even blue light and phone use in the bedroom. That helped me reduce all those bad habits to maximize my sleep, which I believe to be essential for brain health.
Everything else other than sleep tracking I use a smartwatch, the ring is awful at tracking exercises, and in the gym it gets into the way and gets scratched easily.
If you'd like deeper insight they have a "beta" feature that allows you to chat with an AI advisor in the app was quite useful to me.
